Inhabiting the rugged terrain of the Cordillera Region of Northern Philippines are six ethno-linguistic tribes known as the Ibaloy and Kankana-ey of Benguet, Ifugao, Kalinga, Apayao/Isneg, and the Bontoc of Mountain Province. They are referred to by a generic term, Igorot, a word coined from the root word, "golot" meaning mountain . The Igorots have their own distinct handwoven native costumes. Although traditonal costumes have given way to western apparels, most of the Igorots or highland natives, here and abroad, are still proud to wear their handwoven traditional native costumes, the "tapis" or "wannes" during special occasions, like weddings, town fiestas, cultural activities, etc.
We have several selections of handwoven clothing and accessories like a pair of skirt and blouse for women and polo shirts and coats & tie for men to choose from. The designs are in ikat or rainbow color. These two -piece suit (skirt & blouse) are carefully sewn so that the intricate designs are in-sync from top to bottom.
